Crakehall Cricket Club

This is village cricket at its most literal. In a fabulous setting in the heart of Crakehall, the pitch is hemmed in between the large hall, the village Church and adjoining houses. Sixes are not allowed, but don't worry - if the slips don't catch the ball, it usually runs for four anyway, so short are the boundaries. And if the ball hits any of the large trees that are inside the boundary, then that's a four as well.

One of the most telling features of this ground is that most of our members size up the boundaries and then forget that the pitch itself is still 22 yards long. How often have we seen Romany sides collapse dismally as a result?
